AN EXHIBITION has launched in the newly revamped Bigton Kirk which sees two creative minds come together in collaboration.
JJ Jamieson and Joyce Wark have teamed up for an art installation for the community-owned Hymhus in Bigton, which will run through June and July.
Having collaborated in musical projects in the past via Bongshang and Shoormal they have produced three songs which are interpreted through film and drawings.
Entitled Feyness – a Shetland word for ghost – they draw on stories of outcasts in Shetland society from the past with the intention of challenging current attitudes and influences for the future.
The exhibition opened on Sunday and will be available for visitors on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sunday throughout June and July, between 2pm-5pm.
The entrance fee of £3 will go towards Hymhus funds.
Community group Bigton Collective took ownership of the local kirk earlier this year.
The plan is to use the former Church of Scotland building as a versatile space for events, installations, exhibitions, arts and crafts, concerts and ceremonies.
