The event – taking place at the riverside venue from August 14 to Sunday, August 20 – is in memory of Len Kirkham, a founder and influential member of the club’s art committee, who recently passed away at the age of 85.

A Rotary Club spokesperson told the Globe: “Since our first Art Exhibition held at Heswall Library in 2004, we have raised over £70,000 to support mainly local charities.

“This is in no small measure due to Len’s dedicated hard work and in particular his rapport with many of our regular Artists. Len was a lovely man, a true Rotarian and will be sorely missed by everyone.”

Hundreds of pieces of artwork will be on view.

The Rotary Club spokesperson continued: “There’s no charge to come along and browse the many paintings on display and they are all available to buy.

“This well-established annual event is an important item in the local Art Group calendars as well as providing a facility for individual artists to display and sell their work and it attracts over 100 artists mostly from Wirral and the surrounding areas.

“Exhibits cover a wide range of media and subjects and it generally has many paintings inspired by local features, including favourite beauty spots around the Wirral peninsula, which are especially popular and sell very quickly.”

All paintings will be on sale, with prices ranging from £25 to £200.

Twenty percent of the sale price is retained by Rotary, together with proceeds from the sale of draw tickets.

The Exhibition starts with a preview night on Monday, August 14 taking place from 6-9.30pm in the Plaza and Panoramic Lounge areas of the Floral.

Tickets for Monday night are £20, which includes the buffet and dessert. They are available from Brian on 0151 632 5674.

The exhibition itself runs from Tuesday, August 15 to Sunday, August 20 and admission is free.

All visitors will receive a free catalogue which gives an easy guide to the price of each painting. There is still time to put an advert in the catalogue. Call Brian on 0151 632 5674 for more details.
