Two local artists, Cathy Burke and Jacqueline Burrage, will be holding a joint debut art exhibition at The Old Fire Station Gallery from 9-14 June. The gallery will be open daily from 10am to 5pm, with some later evening viewing.
Jacqueline and Cathy met over lockdown and discovered a shared interest in music, painting and the interplay between the two. Both are particularly struck by the effect colour has on our senses, and this has inspired the title of their exhibition, Life In Colour.
As well as being a painter, Cathy is an opera singer and actress. Having recently secured an agent, she is returning to the business after a long absence looking after her two sons, both now choristers at Westminster Abbey. Jacqueline who is a translator and interpreter, is also an enthusiastic pianist and plays the violin in a local orchestra.
Jacqueline will be donating the proceeds from her art sales to a local charity, Riverside Counselling, which supports mental health and wellbeing by offering affordable counselling for all (www.riversidecounsellingservice.co.uk).
Cathy is donating the proceeds of her opening night to Friends of Kipkelion, a UK charity which helps create better living conditions in a remote part of Kenya, by improving health and education and providing clean water (www.friendsofkipkelion.com).
Cathy and Jacqueline would be delighted to welcome all to come and see Life in Colour at The Old Fire Station Gallery.
